Acta Hydrobiologica Sinica (CN 42-1230/Q,ISSN 1000-3207), launched in 1955, is sponsored by the Institute ofHydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Society forOceanology and Limnology.



Acta Hydrobiologica Sinica is a comprehensive academicjournal dedicated to the timely publication of original research ideas andresults in all fields of hydrobiology in the forms of research articles, briefreports, and reviews. A wide range of papers is published, including ecology,physiology, pathology, biogeography, aetiology, toxicology, methodology andtaxonomy. The aim of the Journal is to spread up-to-date information to readerswho are staff members and students of university departments of biological scienceand fishery, as well as scientific and technical staff of related researchorganizations and enterprises. The readers of the journal are spread all over the worldincluding scientific researchers, decision-making and management personnel, andteachers and students in higher education institutions in related fields.


Requirements for submissions:

Submission of an article implies that the work described isrequested to be original and has not been published previously and copyrighted, that it is not under consideration forpublication elsewhere, and its submission has beenapproved by all the authors and by the institute where the work was carried out,and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, inEnglish or in any other language without the written consent of the publisher. Before the files of an article are transmitted, authorsshould read the explanation with regard to the format of the Journal carefully.Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement. This transfer willensure the widest possible dissemination of information.


Manuscript preparing:

The article should be written in good English. The titleshould be concise and informative. Author names and affiliations should bepresented. E-mail address and complete postal address of corresponding authorshould be provided. The abstracts should be able to stand alone, statingbriefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and majorconclusions. The Introduction of the article should state the objectives of thework and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature surveyor a summary of the results. The Experimental section should provide sufficientdetail to allow the work to be reproduced (Methods already published should beindicated by a reference). In Results and Discussion section, results should beclear and concise; the discussion should explore the significance of theresults of the work, not repeating them. A short Conclusion section should alsobe presented in the end. Researchpapers are no less than 6,000 words. Reviews are no less than 7,000 words.

Figuresand Tables should be consecutively numbered with Arabic numerals in accordancewith their appearance in the text; footnotes indicating them should be placedbelow the table or figure body. Each figure should have a descriptive legend.Drawings should be of professional quality or generated by high-resolutioncomputer graphics.

Nomenclatureand units should follow internationally accepted rules and conventions: use theinternational system of units (SI). If other quantities are mentioned, givetheir equivalent in SI.

Referencesto the literature should be cited in the text by Arabic numerals in square brackets in accordance with their appearancein the text, and listed numerically at the end of the paper.


All manuscripts should besubmitted through the column of “Online Submission” on the website of thejournal— prepare a single file(allowed formats: Word) containing all schemes, figures, and tables integratedin the text. Then follow the instructions on the submission website. Asuccessful electronic submission of a manuscript will be followed by asystem-generated acknowledgement to the principal/corresponding author of themanuscript. After successful submission, the author can check the whole course throughthe column of “Online checking” on the website of the journal. Authors must rewrite the portionsof the article that do not meet the requirements of the Journal and submit the revision of manuscript viathe web site. After the print publication, one journal and 20 offprintsof each article will be provided free of charge.
