ISOLATION AND BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF AN AEROMONASCAVIAE PATHOGEN FROM PROCAMBARUS CLARKII

  • A pathogenic strain L2M-A was isolated from diseased Procambarus clarkii, and was identified as an Aeromonas caviae strain (GenBank accession No. KF446251) with biochemical and molecular approaches. The 16S rDNA sequence of this strain showed a homology of 99% to 100% with those of Aeromonas strains, and was closest related to that of A. caviae strain JXZ-3 (GenBank accession No: JF496552). We also found that the optimal growth conditions of strain L2M-A were pH5-9, temperature at 30℃, and spinning speed at 200 r/min. The growth of L2M-A could be significantly inhibited by difloxacin at the concentration of 6.25 g/mL. This finding could provide scientific guidance for the disease control.
