Abstract
Qinghai Lake is situated in north-west China, covering an area of 4635 km2 (36°32′—37°15′N., 99°36′—100°47′E.) at an altitude of about 3300 m. This brackish water lake is the biggest inland water in China, of which the salt content is about 14.383 g/l. Its, macrophytes, however, are still rarely known. This report is based on a collection by the auther in 1982. All Potamogetonaceae plants found in this lake are enumerated and keys to genera and species are provided. Altogether 7 new species belonging to Potamogeton and Zannichellia are described. They are as follows:1. Potamogeton miniatus Y. D. Chen sp. nov. (Fig. Ⅰ: 1)Herba submersa. Rhizoma elongatum, repens, ca 1 mm diam.. Caulis teres, 30—70 cm longus, 0.7—1 mm diam.. Folia atrovirentia, anguste linearia depressa, 5—7 cm longa, 0.5—1 mm lata, apice acuminata, stipulae vaginales 1.5—2 mm longae, apice libero membranaceo ca 5 mm longo. Pedunculi graciles 15—25 cm longi, miniati; spicae interruptae floribus 3—6 jugis praeditae; bracteae membranaceae, 1.5 mm longae, ca 3 mm latae margine undulatae vel lobatae; pedicelli longi, miniati; tepalum subrotundatum ca 2 mm diam. margine integrum; filamenta basi connata. Fructus subcompressi, oblique obovati vel subrotundati 2.5—3 mm longi, 2 mm lati, dorso rotundati ventre convexo, apice mucrone brevissimo instructi.Species nova affinis P. pectinato L. sed pedicello longo, miniato, filamentis basi connatis, fructu ventro convexo differt.Qinghai Lake alt. 3300 m, submerged, Aug. 28 1982, Y.
