  • γ-tubulin is a newly discovered protein, which is considered to be essentialfor microtubule nucleation. With the help of the polymerase chain reaction(PCR) weamplified and sequenced the γ-tubulin gene of Euplotes octocarinatus, a hypotrichousciliate.Polyclonal antibody to localize mis protein in E.octocarinatus and found, thatγ-tubulin is present in the basal bodie of dordal cilia, the basal bodies of cirri and the basal bodies of membranelles. In addition,it was found in the micronucleus and andin the macronucleus.
