Abstract
For the purpose of artifical propagation, a total of 663 individuals of Chinese sturgeon (Acipenser sinensis) were captured in the section below the Gezhouba Dam in the Yangtze River from 1984 to 1998.The annual capture was from 31 to 60 ones. The percentages of artificially parturifacient individuals in annual captures ranged from 3.1 to 91.7% with a mean of 28.43% .Those of fertilized eggs in total annual egg deposition were from 0 to 85.0% with mean of 66.5%, and a mean of 543000 (ranging from 50000 to 1519000) newly hatched larvae as obtained annually.A total of 4.258 millions of larvae and 62800 of juveniles have been released into the Yangtze River during the investigation period. The techniques of artificial propagating, larval hatching, juvenile rearing and releasing of the fish were well developed.
