THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LIQUED CRYSTALS AND OTOLITH CRYSTALS IN THE INNER-EAR OF PSEUDOSCIAENA POLYACTIS

  • In this paper,we not only observed the lens-shaped microstatolith of Pscudosciaena polyactis by SEM,but also convinced that the otolith was composed of CaCO3aragonite by X-ray diffraction and the liquid crystalline existed in the inner-earlymph by polarized microscopy. Furthermore, formations of statoconia, statolith anotolith were also discussed based on the liquid crystal theory primarily.
