Abstract
The 96h toxic effects on an alga(Selenastrum Capricorhutum)were determined for threemajor toxicants(sulfide,petroleum and phenol)entering the stabilization pond of MoshuiLake in Wuhan,using both single-toxicant test and inultiple-toxicant experiment with anorthogonal design.Values of 96h EC50 were 20-80% lower in the mutiple-toxicant test thanthose in thesingle-toxicant test, suggesting the synergic or addi tive effects of thetoxicants.Toxicant standards for the influent water were set up based on the results of mul-tiple-toxicant experiments.
