Abstract
Pseudomurraytrema asiaticus sp. nov. (Fig. 1-5).Host and Locality: Myxocyprinus asiaticus (Bleeker), collated from the middle reaches of the Yangtze River (Jiayu, Hubei Province).Location: Gill.Description: large dactylogyrid with smooth cuticle, body width 276-305 μ; length 1300-1480 μ. Pharynx subovate, 17-22 × 17-22 μ in size. Opisthohaptor length 26-42 μ, greatest width 29-43 μ. The armature of opisthohaptor consists of two pairs of anchors, a ventral and two dorsal transverse bars, and seven pairs of marginal booklets. Two pairs of central large anchors are similar in shape and size, length of dorsal central large anchor 44-47 μ, width 21-22 μ, length of ventral large anchor 46-49 μ, width 18-22 μ; dorsal bar paired, 9×49-59 μ in size, ventral bar 9-12 × 61-76 μ.Copulatory tube being C-shaped, with median spine and sickleshaped termination, copulatory apparatus 94-120 μ long according to its curvature. Supporting apparatus securiform, 44-52 μ in length.Vagina composed of several coiled tubes, egg eggplant like, egg filament perforated distally; egg length 121 μ, greatest width 46-61 μ.Description is based on 30 specimens. The type specimens are deposited in the Department of Fishery, Central China Agricultural College and in the author's collection. The new species is similar to Pseudomurraytrema alabarrum, P. paradoxum and P. copulatum in the shape of cuticular structure of opisthohaptor, but it differs from them by the size and shape of the egg, fine structure of supporting apparatus and the size of the cuticular structure of the opisthohaptor.
